German architect Walter Gropius, the founder of Bauhaus Art School in Dessau designed two original buildings that have now been restored and revamped by German practice. The new project that took place actually caused a little bit of controversy over the memorial site, which reopened May 16, 2014. The aesthetic reconstruction of the outer shells in the interests of tourism; and the conservation of the structures as historic records of destruction. In order to protect the significance behind the structure the decision was made to reconstruct and update the design. The structure consists of stacked compositions of concrete, influenced by their previous structural shape.

As you can see the “Oval House” from the outside looking in looks pretty simple and compacted in many ways. In some ways both of those observations are true because of the clustered residential community this project lies in, therefore as said above the Architect was faced with a challenge that perhaps all Mexican architects have. And that challenge was to build a house in a cloistered residential community that often imposes arbitrary, traditionalist aesthetic restrictions on all construction in Mexico. Being able to have the right amount of privacy and space efficiency the house consists of concrete, wood, and stone materials. The structure also features a central internal courtyard on the top floor with bedrooms and a family living space, which is also on the upper level, while kitchen, dining, and entertaining areas are located on the ground floor, which opens up to reveal a backyard and concrete deck in the rear.

Appreciation of Great Architecture in the Workplace

Lately I have been looking through a lot of architectural websites and have been admiring the works and designs that these huge corporations rightfully have. So as we wind down the 2013 years, which has been pretty amazing for a lot of folks and companies including NICHE1080 (thanks to you all) I thought I should share some of the top workplaces based on architecture and design.
