Who is Who?: Troy Gold of The Wavy Club (pt. 1)

photoGreetings everyone and welcome again for another interview of my Who is Who? segment for Niche1080. I am interviewing a young upcoming artist by the name of Troy Gold, who in fact has a very intriguing mind and aroma. All of that and more will be showcased in the interview below. Part one will be released today and for the second part we will announce that date and time soon….

Who is Troy Gold?

Troy Gold is an eighteen year old, rapper from West Los Angeles, who’s currently working on his debut EP, Ivy Shore and I also have a cold right now. Hahah.

Your original name was Ibn Gold, could you explain the reason behind the name change?
The reason I changed my name from Ibn Gold to Troy Gold is because Ibn was often extremely difficult for people to understand, pronounce and remember, which was starting to become very nerve-racking in a sense. I also changed my name to Troy because it seems like more of a name that represents my unique and stand up personality. It’s a cool name.
Let the people in on what you expect to get out of the debut release of your EP…
Man… I really just hope people are receptive of the EP and that they can relate to it. I’m not selling it, or anything like that. So I just really want people to accept it and believe in the project and me as an artist. Being on Earth for these short 18 years, I’ve experienced a lot, in which I speak about in this project, and you know, if you a young person and you tryna make it in whatever your niche is, and you always fresh or you cute, male or female, you gone like this project a lot.
What helps you get through a day, month, and year?
I’d say, all the people in my life, the good and the bad are what help me get through my days, months, and years.. The bad keeps me challenged and the good reminds me that I can beat the challenges out. Music does too. I like all types of music. Old, new, “bad” and “good”. I can’t go a day without listening to music, if I do, I’ll more than likely have a difficult/off balanced day. Skateboarding does me some good as well. Watching and playing basketball does some justice.. And being in LA, being out, seeing stuff, people, talking, things like that..

What’s a day in life of Troy Gold like?
My days pretty much consist of trips to 7-11 down the street from the cribbo, a lot of text messaging, a lot of writing and recording, coolin’ with my brothers talkin’ about our visions and what we hope will happen in our futures, bein’ out in the city. Oh yeah, and shopping.. A lot of that.
Why should people support your brand?
I would say people should support my brands because it’s organic, it’s real. It’s not something I’m putting together just to make some money, I’m not out here stealing waves, things like that. It’s new. It’s what people like. I know personally, I like music and brands that bring something new to the table but it ain’t extra’d out. I like simple stuff that got a weird complex lil vibe to it. So, if you a real person, come mess with the Club. It’s worth it.
My clothing brand is called *my+Own* and it pretty much consist of Troy Gold merch with a few cut n sew pieces, like waxed denim and a few other pieces. I also got a lil collab coming up soon with some-one that I’m sure people are familiar with. Probably dropping in early 2014.. It’s gonna be different. Something cool.
Stay tuned for part two of this interview…
